ABOUT VBCDC
Established in 2020, the Value-Based Chronic Disease Collaborative (VBCDC) brings payers together with advocacy organizations that represent high-cost disease populations to facilitate an open dialogue and to generate shared solutions. It is led by the National Bleeding Disorders Foundation (NBDF) in partnership with Impact Education, LLC (IMPACT).
This proactive and collaborative approach allows for the development of strategies that are appropriately tailored to the unique characteristics of each patient population. VBCDC was created based off of the success of NBDF’s Comprehensive Care Sustainability Collaborative (CCSC) program.

He is currently an adjunct professor at Harvard. Kate Reinhalter Bazinsky, MPH also presented to the group, representing BD SUMHAC.

Didactic presentations from two health technology assessment organizations, The Institute for Clinical and Economic Review (ICER) and The Innovation and Value Initiative (IVI) were led by their patient engagement leads respectively: Catherine (Cat) Koola and Erica deFur Malik. Executive Summary (Q1 2023)
On January 27, 2023, VBCDC convened their semi-annual virtual multidisciplinary stakeholder meeting, with 45 experts from payer and patient advocacy organizations. Accountable Health, LLC, Sick Cells, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, Highmark, and members of the VBCDC steering committee led didactic and case study presentations, which were combined by a series of group discussions.
